Medical Device Evaluation Center (MDEC) is a research and development organization dedicated to advancing the safety and efficacy of blood-contacting medical devices. Over the course of 25 years, MDEC personnel have developed unique experimental models that facilitate the assessment of hemocompatibility (e.g. thrombogenic potential) of devices and surface coatings. The results from such analyses have been used extensively by numerous device manufacturers for their product FDA submissions. MDEC continues to refine and adapt its testing capabilities to the rapidly advancing field of medical devices.
